Leisa Wilson, Cornea Recipient
A bacterial infection in her eye, left Leisa Wilson, with a hole in her cornea and nearly blind. She was a single mother of three young children at the time, and remembers, “I couldn’t function, drive, sleep or be in a room with light. It basically stopped my whole life.” But, nine months later, Leisa received a cornea transplant and regained her independence. “Because of the gift of sight made possible by my donor, I am living my dream of seeing my children play sports, get their drivers licenses, graduate from high school, and become successful adults. I am forever grateful for the chance to see my beautiful family grow up.”
